Re Your Brains

Here’s a funny little undead ditty by Jonathan Coulton:

You can buy Jonathan’s Weezer sounding zombie song at payloadz for just a buck.

And the lyrics:

Heya Tom, it’s Bob from the office down the hall
Good to see you buddy, how’ve you been?
Thing have been OK for me except that I’m a zombie now
I really wish you’d let us in
I think I speak for all of us when I say I understand
Why you folks might hesitate to submit to our demand
But here’s an FYI: you’re all gonna die screaming

All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re not unreasonable, I mean, no one’s gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise:
If you open up the doors
We’ll all come inside and eat your brains

I don’t want to nitpick, Tom, but is this really your plan?
To spend your whole life locked inside a mall?
Maybe that’s OK for now but someday you’ll be out of food and guns
And then you’ll have to make the call
I’m not surprised to see you haven’t thought it through enough
You never had the head for all that bigger picture stuff
But Tom, that’s what I do, and I plan on eating you slowly

All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re not unreasonable, I mean, no one’s gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise:
If you open up the doors
We’ll all come inside and eat your brains

I’d like to help you Tom, in any way I can
I sure appreciate the way you’re working with me
I’m not a monster Tom, well, technically I am
I guess I am

I’ve got another meeting Tom, maybe we could wrap it up
I know we’ll get to common ground somehow
Meanwhile I’ll report back to my colleagues who were chewing on the doors
I guess we’ll table this for now
I’m glad to see you take constructive criticism well
Thank you for your time I know we’re all busy as hell
And we’ll put this thing to bed
When I bash your head open

All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re not unreasonable, I mean, no one’s gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise:
If you open up the doors
We’ll all come inside and eat your brains

Monster Hospital by Metric

I love this song. Monster Hospital by Canadian band Metric is one darn catchy tune on its own. A terrified female lead singer, undead band mates and other horror elements in black and white with red all over video directed by Toronto’s Micah Meisner makes it just that much better. I bought this CD after the first time I heard the song while watching music videos one dark night and am glad I did. There’s plenty more in the way of decent tunes on the Live it Out CD. The zombies reeled me in but the music kept me.

9 out of 10 for both song and video.

Danger 50,000 Volts: Zombies

More NSFW language ahead in this full episode of Danger 50,000 Volts (26:37). Watch it before it goes away:

Danger 50,000 Volts: Zombies. Special episode of the channel 5 progamme staring Nick Frost & Simon Pegg stars of Shaun of the Dead.

Holy shit I love these guys. Too bad they don’t want to make a sequel for Shaun of the Dead. Oh well this is good anyway and I can pick up the entire series on DVD at Amazon.ca.

Kick It

Beware! There’s some NSFW lyrics ahead:

Sometimes musicians can make creative use of zombies in music videos. Peaches - Kick It (featuring Iggy Pop) is one example I enjoy. It’s not the best song but the video’s tons of fun. Iggy Pop looks like a zombie sometimes anyway, but you gotta love the guy.

Once the movie biz gets into swing again this year and I make a little dough I think I’ll send $80 and a photo of myself to be zombiefied by Canadian artist Rob Sacchetto. While I’m at it I think I’ll pick up his “know your zombies” poster as well. Your stuff rocks Rob! I love the Dawn of the Dead reference in the quote.

For more samples check out the Zombie Portraits set on Mr. Sacchetto’s Flickr page. Creepy… We Canadians do love our zombies.

A Poster for Fido

fido-poster.jpg

That’s it, the official Fido poster is here (found on CHUD). That March 16th 2007 release date for Canadian theatres is getting closer. Wee!

Here’s a favourable review of Fido’s Sundance showing:

“You crazy, wonderful zombie!”

Fido is ruthlessly zombietic and timelessly entertaining. Director Andrew Currie and a great cast, including Carrie-Ann Moss who takes a significantly distant step away from her Trinity persona, pull together a great horror-comedy in the way that Shaun of the Dead did in 2004. (The rest of the article by by Alex Billington can be found at FirstShowing.net)

Am I ever getting jazzed for this. It sounds like a cute (I can’t believe I’m using that word) little film about a boy and his zombie.

Plane Dead

Directed by Scott Thomas from a script he wrote with Mark Onspaugh and Sidney Iwanter, and produced by David Shoshan.

Synopsis:

Only a handful of survivors remain… now, the clock is ticking, the pilots are dead, no place to land, fuel is running out, the dead are hungry and they are coming…

‘Plane Dead’ is a special effects-packed sci-fi/horror/action thriller about a routine flight from LA to Paris on which a renegade scientist, on the run from the CIA, has smuggled a secret coffin containing the body of a scientist infected with a deadly genetically-engineered virus.

The 747 jumbo jet collides with two massive thunderstorms at once, which drops it into the eye of an inescapable storm. The non-stop turbulence triggers the release of the infected ‘flesh eating’ scientist from the cargo hold. A life-and-death battle ensues as the virus turns the unsuspecting passengers into ‘the undead’, and the terrified uninfected passengers try to survive the flight they wish they missed.

Now, no government will allow the ‘infected’ 747 jumbo jet to land. Stranded in the air, the passengers have no place to hide from their ravenous tormentors… Flying the deadly skies…”

Here’s the trailer:

Last year we saw Snakes on a Plane, this year it’s zombies on a plane in Plane Dead. This s more up my zombie lovin’ alley. Snakes on a plane? Not so scary. But the undead? Yikes! There’s nowhere to go on a plane. Maybe the cockpit or a tiny little washrooom, but you’d have to fight through zombies and other survivors to hole up in any one of those places. Not fun. I’m not a good flier to begin with. Ugh!

Here’s a few of pictures from the official site (there’s more there). I just had to post these they were too great to pass up:

This film looks like a jet load of zombie goodness. I can’t wait to see it. I don’t see a release date, so I’m emailing them now to get some more information. Hopefully they’ll get back to me and we can follow this one along.

This year is shaping up to be a fun one for zombie lovers.

Real Zombie?

I was surfing the forums over at All things Zombie to day and came across a post titled “Supposed Real Zombie Caught on Tape”. I clicked the link inside and it took me to a video at LiveLeak called Strange Creature. As Wordpress is unable to embed LiveLeak videos I’ve decided to host it myself:

A couple of Spanish guys were walking throught the woods and saw something that stared straight back at them. They got the hell out of there!

Very exciting. It’s very relevant to a project I’ve been developing for some time. That’s all I’m saying about that right now.

DotD VW Ad

This is what you get when you take footage of George A. Romero’s 1978 zombie classic, Dawn of the Dead, add a funky song by The Doors to flesh out the soundtrack, mix it with a dash of creativity, overlay some amusing titles, throw in a VW logo and mash ‘em all together. Funny stuff.

Pocky Commercial

Mmm! I love Pocky. With the large Asian population here in Vancouver it’s quite easy to find. I think we’ll snag some at the grocery store today.
